Hello, World
If you're reading this, welcome. I'm Deshan — a full-stack developer and final-year IT student at SLIIT, Sri Lanka.
I build custom web applications, ERP systems, and WordPress sites for real businesses. My biggest project so far is Kithul Flow, a full ERP system for kithul product workflows — covering everything from field collection to finance, with role-based access and batch traceability.
Why a Blog?
Mostly for myself. I've learned that the best way to really understand something is to explain it. Writing forces you to confront the gaps in your thinking.
But I also want to share the things I wish someone had told me earlier — the messy reality of building production software as a student, the architecture decisions that seem obvious in hindsight, and the tools that actually make a difference.
What to Expect
Here's what I plan to write about:
- Build logs — Honest walkthroughs of how I built things like Kithul Flow, what went wrong, and what I'd do differently
- Technical deep dives — PostgreSQL patterns, RBAC design, offline-first sync, and other backend topics I care about
- Learning notes — Things I'm figuring out as I go, documented in real time
- Tools & workflows — What I actually use day-to-day as a solo developer
No schedule, no pressure. Just writing when I have something worth sharing.
